Lessons

My method of instruction combines both a comprehensive as well as a practical approach
catered to the students needs. This includes music theory as well as note / tablature
reading to help facilitate the skills necessary to becoming a well rounded guitarist. My teaching style
incorporates a variety of methods according to the students interests. As every student is
unique, the goal is to develop and present an approach to playing music that can be
attained in the shortest amount of time. Using established practice as a foundation I
encourage creativity through improvisation, songwriting, and flexible arrangements of
songs.
I enjoy teaching all styles of music. I am a songwriter/composer who enjoys well crafted music regardless of genre. However, I do have personal favorites that
from time to time repeat endlessly in my car stereo.
As a performer, I play electric guitar in various group settings and also perform solo on
acoustic guitar. Special areas of focus include Acoustic Folk Blues, Electric Blues, Classic Rock, Improvisation and Songwriting.
I believe the most important and challenging aspect of teaching guitar is making the
process enjoyable and in finding creative ways to motivate the student to learn. Finding
common threads through the students personal musical tastes and by offering support
though mentorship and personal successes and failings, can help the student to find their
own voice and set realistic goals for their musical and personal future.

Lessons are available online for 25.00 (30 minutes) and 50.00 (60 minutes). In person lessons are not available at this time.

The video conferencing platform that I use is Zoom. Prior to your first lesson we’ll set up a a complimentary “meet and greet” on Zoom. This is where we talk about the musical styles you are most interested in learning and begin to develop a lesson plan. An online student folder for materials will be available for your use after I receive payment for the first month of lessons.
